吃的快樂 吃的健康~ Happy eating and healthy eating!

As the weather turns colder, my craving for hearty and comfort food grows excessively. Hmm, waffles, hotpot, beef stew, pasta with ragu sauce all of a sudden all seem so heavenly. Do you by any chance have this craving too?

Hey but did you know that this is all normal according to the law of the nature. Hint, it’s pretty much a way our bodies give us signals, telling us what they need. In winter, it’s the season where humans conserve energy and build strength for the upcoming spring. Traditional Chinese believes our diet in the winter should focus on enriching yin and subduing yang, which mean we should consume appropriate fats and high protein foods.

It’s also wise to eat fresh veggies and fruits to balance everything out, especially food with bitter flavors to support a healthy heart and reduce the workload of the kidney. Foods with bitter flavors include apricot, asparagus, celery, coffee, tea, grapefruit, hops, kohlrabi, lettuce, radish leaves, kale, vinegar and wine. Lucky for me, I love all of these, ok except for wine, because I don’t drink.

Anyhow, I wish everyone have a healthy and happy eating this winter!
